National Police Chief Asserts All Parties Ready to Collaborate for 81st Independence Day Security

Jakarta, VIVA – National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has affirmed that all parties from ministries, agencies and regional governments are working together to maintain national stability, particularly ahead of the 81st Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia on 17 August 2026.

Sigit made the remarks after attending a meeting led by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Djamari Chaniago. The meeting was also attended by TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, the Head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), Muhammad Herindra, and Attorney General ST Burhanuddin.

“Together with all ministries and agencies, particularly those tasked with maintaining security stability, we are cooperating with regional governments across the whole of Indonesia,” Sigit told journalists at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs on Wednesday, 5 August 2026.

Sigit explained that the National Police would continue to coordinate with all parties to ensure that the series of 17 August celebrations proceeds safely.

He reminded that the 81st Independence Day belongs to all the people who celebrate it together.

“Of course, we coordinate at all times to make sure that the entire series leading up to the 17 August celebrations, including the events organised by the government, can run safely,” he said.

“And of course we appeal to everyone: this is our celebration, the 81st celebration of our independence, a celebration we share. Let us welcome it together, celebrate it together in a good spirit, and safeguard the unity of this nation,” Sigit concluded.
