Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Police Chief, General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, has expressed his apology if any member of the National Police has undermined public trust.

“On this occasion, I would like to express my apology if, in our daily activities, there have been actions by our members, whether intentional or unintentional, that have undermined public trust,” he said at the “National Police Iftar with the Media” event at the National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Wednesday.

The leader of the National Police promised that if any personnel commit acts that undermine public trust, especially if they involve violations, the force will not hesitate to take firm action to protect the institution.

“This is a form of our commitment, the institution’s commitment to the public, to society, and to the media,” he said.

Furthermore, he invited the national media to monitor and report on the achievements of the National Police, as he believes that this can be a source of motivation for the police to work better.

“Because these things may seem simple, but for us, they are a very important source of motivation,” he said.

The National Police, he added, is always ready to receive input, criticism, and evaluation.

“However, I also ask that you continue to support us in carrying out the mandate of the institution, in carrying out our main task of maintaining security and public order, enforcing the law, and maintaining security for our country so that it can become better in the current situation of global uncertainty,” he said.
