National Police Chief Announces Corn Harvest and Construction of Thousands of Nutrition Service Units in Front of Prabowo
The National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stated that the National Police has successfully harvested thousands of tons of corn and built thousands of Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) in various regions of Indonesia.
This was conveyed by Sigit in front of President Prabowo Subianto during the Simultaneous Second Quarter Corn Harvest event, the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the National Food Security Warehouse of the National Police, and the Launching of the National Police SPPG Operational activities in Tuban, East Java, on Saturday (16/5).
Sigit reported that in order to realize national food self-sufficiency by 2025, the National Police planted corn on an area of 661,112 hectares, with a harvest of 3.9 million tons. Sigit said that this amount has supported an increase in national corn production in 2025 by 6.74 percent or 1.8 million tons.
Furthermore, in 2026, the National Police will again plant corn on an area of 1.37 million hectares spread throughout Indonesia. On January 8, the first quarter harvest was carried out on an area of 91,000 hectares with a harvest of 884,129 tons.
“Furthermore, today, led by Mr. President, we will carry out the simultaneous second quarter corn harvest on an area of 189,760 hectares with a potential harvest of around 1.23 million tons,” said Sigit.
Sigit said that 100 tons of corn from the harvest will be exported to Malaysia through the Jagoi Babang border in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan. In addition, some of the corn harvest will also be sent to Bulog to support strengthening food reserves and maintaining supply stability.
Sigit said that the National Police has also built 18 storage warehouses on National Police land in 12 provinces. He said that this warehouse was built to support increased yields from farmers.
“Today, a simultaneous groundbreaking ceremony will be held for the construction of 10 National Police food security warehouses, so that the total number of National Police food security warehouses will reach 28 units, each with a capacity of 1,000 tons and one unit with a capacity of 10,000 tons, which will be completed in June 2026,” said Sigit.
In front of Prabowo, Sigit also said that to date, the National Police has 1,376 SPPGs. In detail, 736 SPPGs have been operating, 172 SPPGs are in the preparation stage, and 468 SPPGs are under construction.
Sigit said that in 2026, the National Police will target to continue construction to reach 1,500 SPPGs throughout Indonesia. This is done to expand the reach of nutrition services, thereby contributing to improved public health and welfare.
“In meeting food safety and security standards, the National Police SPPG has certificates for food handlers, certificates for hygiene and sanitation, certificates for halal product guarantees, certificates for water laboratory tests, and consistently applies food safety principles,” he said.
“In addition, the National Police is also building 33 SPPGs in the 3T (underdeveloped, remote, and outermost) regions as a form of support for expanding access to nutrition,” he added.
Not only that, Sigit continued, the National Police also has 47 SPPGs that have used CNG or Compressed Natural Gas. He said that this is an effort by the National Police to support more efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly SPPG operations.
