National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo affirmed that the construction of 110 Red and White Precision Bridges in Riau Province represents concrete action by the National Police in fulfilling the President’s vision. This infrastructure is specifically designed to address public concerns regarding educational access and mobility in remote areas.

General Sigit made these remarks following the inauguration and groundbreaking of the 110 Red and White Precision Bridges dispersed across Riau Province on Tuesday, 17 March 2026. Also present were Commission IV Chairperson of the People’s Consultative Assembly Siti Hediati Hariyadi (also known as Titiek Soeharto) and Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni.

General Sigit explained that the bridge construction initiative stemmed from President Prabowo Subianto’s concern for schoolchildren struggling to access education. Many students in remote areas risk their lives crossing rivers or taking extremely long detours to reach school.

“I wish to thank the Regional Police Chief (Riau Regional Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan) who has acted swiftly in implementing the President’s direction regarding his consistent concern for schoolchildren facing significant difficulties. Praise be, the President’s hopes and orders are now being promptly implemented,” General Sigit stated.

Of the 110 bridges planned for Riau, 27 have been completed and inaugurated today, whilst 83 others are in the final stages of construction. The National Police Chief noted that Riau has the highest number of bridge construction projects compared to other regions.

The Police Chief hopes these bridges will have widespread benefits for rural communities, ranging from improving human resource quality to boosting the economic sector. With shorter travel distances, educational access becomes easier and residents’ cost of living burden is reduced.

“Our hope is that what the President has ordered truly benefits improving people’s standard of living, human resource quality as travel distances shorten, and certainly improves rural community economy by reducing logistics costs,” he added.

Similarly, Commission IV Chairperson Siti Hediati Hariyadi also praised the National Police’s concrete step. She acknowledged the police force has demonstrated high social sensitivity beyond their core policing duties.

“Driven to promptly resolve regional problems so children can study well and attend school properly, the police force has taken action,” said Titiek Soeharto.

Also present at the event were Deputy Minister of Forestry Rohmat Marzuki, Acting Governor of Riau SF Hariyanto, and Commander of Military Command XIX/Tuanku Tambusai Major General Agus Hadi Waluyo, along with religious leaders and community figures from Riau.

The National Police Chief was accompanied by senior officials from National Police Headquarters, including Intelligence and Security Command Chief Inspector General Yuda Gustawan, Criminal Investigation Division Chief Inspector General Syahardiantono, Mobile Brigade Commander Inspector General Ramdani Hidayat, and Public Relations Division Chief Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir.
