National Police Chief and TNI Commander Strengthen Solidarity to Support Government Programmes
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo paid a visit to Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto at TNI Headquarters in Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Monday, to strengthen solidarity and synergy between the two institutions. Listyo Sigit stated that the gathering was a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s directive, which stressed the importance of TNI-Polri solidity in supporting the implementation of government programmes. “This is the main key so that our country, as expected by the President, can continue to carry out the President’s policy programmes, and all of that can only run if the TNI and Polri are solid,” he said, as quoted from an official statement. According to the National Police Chief, the cohesiveness of the TNI and Polri forms a crucial foundation for maintaining national stability while ensuring various government policies can be implemented properly. “Many have an interest in dividing the TNI and Polri, so on this occasion, we, together with the main officials, will certainly continue to enhance synergy and solidity with the TNI,” he stated. The National Police Chief added that his institution opens the widest possible communication channels should any issues need to be discussed together to maintain the harmonious relationship between the two institutions. “Regarding matters that may need to be discussed or communicated because there are things that might attempt to divide the TNI-Polri, please communicate directly with all the main officials present. We are open to that,” he said. Meanwhile, the TNI Commander was accompanied by Deputy TNI Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal Mohammad Tonny Harjono, TNI Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Richard Tampubolon, and other senior TNI headquarters officials.
