National Police Chief and House Commission IV Chair Hand Over Tractors and Fertiliser to Farmers in NTB
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, together with Chair of House Commission IV Siti Hediati Hariyadi (Titiek Soeharto), handed over assistance ranging from tractors to fertiliser for garlic farmers in Sembalun, West Nusa Tenggara. The agricultural equipment support is expected to help increase garlic production.
The handover was carried out during a simultaneous garlic planting event, a major harvest, and the groundbreaking of the National Police Food Security Warehouse in Sembalun on Wednesday (19/8/2026). Besides Sigit and Titiek, the activity was attended by Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman, and various relevant stakeholders.
The National Police Chief symbolically handed over agricultural machinery assistance to farmer representatives in Sembalun. The assistance consisted of 90 hand tractors, 1 four-wheel tractor, 5 solar-powered water pumps, 19 water pumps with their accessories, and 17 tonnes of Phonska Nitroku fertiliser.
In addition to handing over agricultural equipment assistance and land development support, the National Police is cooperating with the Pusuk Pujata Farmers Group to develop garlic seed varieties that can be cultivated in areas at an altitude of less than 1,000 metres above sea level. The development is expected to open opportunities for expanding garlic production centres to lower-lying areas.
General Sigit emphasised that these efforts are being made to support the food self-sufficiency programme initiated by President Prabowo Subianto. He said Prabowo wants Indonesia to be independent in the food sector.
“President Prabowo Subianto has ordered the same thing. This is a challenge for all of us whether we can carry out this task,” he said.
The National Police’s efforts to support the acceleration of national garlic self-sufficiency also recorded an achievement through the Indonesian World Record Museum (MURI) award for ‘Simultaneous Garlic Planting on the Largest Land Area’. The record was achieved through simultaneous garlic planting on 279.53 hectares of land spread across 59 district police stations in 14 regional police commands.
