Jakarta - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and Commission IV DPR Chairwoman Siti Hediati Hariyadi, also known as Titiek Soeharto, visited temporary shelters for flash flood victims in Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra. General Sigit and Titiek distributed aid ranging from basic necessities to school clothing.

“Thank God, today together with the Chairwoman of Commission IV, we were able to interact, listen directly, and observe the situation and conditions of the community, particularly those temporarily sheltering at the huntara,” General Sigit said at the Pinangsori Hajj Dormitory Temporary Shelter in Central Tapanuli, North Sumatra, on Sunday (2/15/2026).

General Sigit said 16 trucks of aid were deployed to Central Tapanuli. The trucks carried basic necessities, school uniforms, stationery, clothing, children’s toys, cement, mosque carpets, sarongs, prayer garments, and Qurans.

“Today we continued distributing social aid — approximately 16 trucks that we delivered to this temporary shelter and to regencies in the Central Tapanuli area,” General Sigit said.

The police also deployed a Brimob mobile water treatment vehicle to process clean water for community use.

“The Regent will later distribute items according to the needs, such as clothing, food supplies, medicine, and snacks. There will also be assistance from the Chairwoman of Commission IV personally, as well as children’s school supplies including uniforms, books, school bags, medicine, and other necessities needed by the community,” he said.

General Sigit hopes the aid can ease the burden on the community. The National Police Chief has also deployed personnel to handle subsequent flooding.

“Hopefully this can also help ease the burden while accelerating the post-disaster recovery process. Yesterday we received information about further flooding, and we ordered our personnel to move quickly so that disaster-related problems could be addressed immediately,” he said.

Meanwhile, Titiek expressed her pleasure at being able to meet with the community at the temporary shelter. She also conveyed her condolences over the flash floods and landslides.

“On this occasion, I express my deep concern and condolences over the disaster experienced by communities in the three provinces, especially here in Central Tapanuli. May you be given inner and outer strength to face this trial, and may this disaster not come here again and all the problems here be resolved soon,” Titiek said.

“Today I came with the National Police Chief and the delegation to hand over some assistance for the community here. It may not be much, but hopefully it can be of benefit to the people here,” she added.

Titiek also thanked the government for handling the disaster. She appreciated the government’s preparation of temporary shelters at the hajj dormitory.

“On this occasion, we from the DPR express our gratitude and appreciation to the government for promptly helping and addressing the problems faced by the community here, especially the renovation of this hajj dormitory into a temporary shelter,” Titiek said.

Titiek hopes the community can eventually return home once permanent housing is built.

“Hopefully this can help somewhat ease their burden and suffering from having their homes affected by the disaster. Hopefully permanent housing can be built that is even better for the victims of this disaster,” she said.
