National Police Chief affirms commitment to fighting for workers' rights

Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has affirmed that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) will continue to fight for the rights and welfare of all elements of the workforce in Indonesia.

“Certainly, we encourage the continued struggle to fight for workers’ rights and workers’ welfare,” said the National Police Chief while attending the inauguration of the Joint Secretariat Office of the Great Coalition for Indonesian Workers’ Struggle (KBPBI) in South Jakarta on Friday, as quoted from an official statement.

At the event, the National Police Chief also emphasised that Polri and workers must continue to synergise to maintain a safe and conducive investment climate. Moreover, he said, President Prabowo Subianto has people-oriented programmes that must be safeguarded together.

“The struggle of our worker friends is part of championing the President’s programmes, particularly regarding downstreaming, particularly regarding the opening of employment opportunities, and certainly how to create an Indonesia that can compete with other countries,” he said.

He is confident that unity between Polri and workers will support efforts to realise the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.

“We are confident that by uniting, through this joint struggle, Indonesia can remain safeguarded, and our hope is that we can surpass all existing potential pressures, that we can overcome everything, and Indonesia can continue to grow to realise the vision and programmes of the Government towards Golden Indonesia in 2045,” he said.

Furthermore, the leader of the Bhayangkara Corps instructed his ranks at the Polri Manpower Desk to continue safeguarding the workers’ struggle.

“Provide more optimal service so that whatever grievances there are, whatever is reported, whatever we must help mediate and so on, everything can run better,” he said.
