National Police Chief Absent from Forest Area Control Task Force Meeting
The Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, was not present at the Forest Area Control Task Force (Satgas PKH) meeting held at the Ministry of Defence in Central Jakarta on Monday, 13 July 2026.
Satgas PKH spokesperson Barita Simanjuntak was not explicit in explaining the absence. He merely stated that, in terms of organisational principles, all elements were already represented by the Steering Committee and the Executing Committee.
“All are represented within the Steering Committee and the Executing Committee,” he said at the Ministry of Defence office in Central Jakarta.
He explained that the task force operates under the coordination of President Prabowo Subianto as the controller. This policy is stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025, which governs actions to control forest areas in order to manage mining, plantation, and other illegal activities.
“It is important to view this as an organisation within the task force,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, who serves as Chair of the Steering Committee for the Forest Area Control Task Force, convened the task force leadership at the Ministry of Defence office in Central Jakarta.
Among those present were Attorney General ST Burhanuddin as Vice Chair of the Steering Committee I, Indonesian Military Commander General Agus Subiyanto as Vice Chair of the Steering Committee II, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Richard Tampubolon as Vice Chair of the Executing Committee I, and Head of the Development and Finance Comptroller (BPKP) Yusuf Ate as a committee member.
Barita Simanjuntak stated that the meeting discussed the optimisation, synchronisation, and evaluation of the task force’s duties. During the meeting, Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin emphasised the importance of good governance.
“The organisational principle is a system designed to ensure that the targets mandated by Presidential Regulation Number 5 of 2025 can be properly achieved,” Barita said at the Ministry of Defence office in Central Jakarta.
The Satgas PKH plays a vital role in supervising forest areas, collecting administrative fines, and recovering state assets. All actions must adhere to the principle of accountability.
“The task force’s duties are continuously evaluated based on field findings, verification, and data validation,” Barita said.
