National One-Way Traffic Engineering Implemented for Return Flow
Jasa Marga President Director Rivan A. Purwantono stated that this policy was adopted due to the significant increase in vehicle volume from Semarang towards Jakarta, as well as CCTV monitoring results and field officer reports. βThe implementation of this national one-way system is intended to anticipate congestion and facilitate the return flow. We urge road users to ensure their vehicles and drivers are in prime condition, to avoid stopping on the road shoulder except in emergencies, not to change lanes abruptly, and to obey speed limits,β Rivan said in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. He also reminded road users that in emergency situations, they should use the left or inner road shoulder and continue to follow signs and officer instructions. This traffic engineering refers to the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, the National Police Traffic Corps Chief, and the Director General of Highway Development of the Ministry of Public Works dated 5 February 2026 on traffic arrangements during the 2026/1447 Hijriah Lebaran transportation period. Previously, traffic engineering had been carried out in stages. On Monday (23/03) at 16:15 WIB, a local one-way was implemented from KM 263 on the Pejagan-Pemalang Toll Road (Brebes Barat GT) to KM 70 Cikampek Utama GT. This policy was followed by the second stage of local one-way at 20:20 WIB from KM 390 on the Batang-Semarang Toll Road to KM 70 on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road. Subsequently, on Tuesday (24/03) at 10:12 WIB, a local one-way was again applied from KM 424 on the Semarang-Solo Toll Road to KM 414 Kalikangkung GT as part of preparations for the national one-way implementation. Jasa Marga urges the public still at their hometowns to plan their return journeys and avoid peak return flow on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026 to reduce congestion. Road users can also take advantage of the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy on 25-27 March 2026 as well as a 30 percent toll discount valid on 26-27 March 2026 on nine strategic Jasa Marga Group road sections. The national one-way implementation began with a flag-off at Kalikangkung GT attended by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, and National Police Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho.
