National One-Way System Halted, Traffic Police Chief Says Flow Now Normal
Police have halted the National One-Way system from KM 70 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll to KM 414 GT Kalikangkung on Friday (20/3), or H-1 Lebaran. “At 14.22, the implementation of the national one-way from KM 70 of the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll to KM 414 GT Kalikangkung has been stopped,” quoted from the official Instagram post of Korlantas Polri. Traffic in both directions is now normal. Drivers are advised to maintain safe distances while driving and to observe speed limits. “Always be vigilant about road conditions, prioritise safety. Ensure sufficient e-toll balance and comply with instructions from officers on the ground,” said Korlantas. The national one-way was previously officially implemented on the Trans-Java Toll on Wednesday (18/3), starting from KM 70 at the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate, West Java, to KM 414 at the Kalikangkung Toll Gate, Semarang, Central Java. Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho stated that the halt of the National One-Way was carried out after an evaluation by all stakeholders. “Just now, with the permission of the National Police Chief, we, along with stakeholders, evaluated the National One-Way for the homecoming flow. Today, we evaluated that the traffic conditions are quite smooth and under control, therefore, at 13.00 we conducted socialisation, after that we carried out sterilisation, clearing for normal flow.” “Therefore, for the homecoming flow, the National One-Way is temporarily declared closed, at 14.22 WIB earlier. So now the traffic conditions are normal in both directions,” said Agus at the Korlantas Polri Command Centre at KM 29 of the Cikampek Toll, West Java. Regarding this year’s homecoming flow, Kakorlantas stated that overall, everything is quite under control. “The homecoming flow is quite under control. This year is quite different; if we compare it to last year’s homecoming flow, there is a fairly significant increase of 4.62 percent. From 258 thousand to 270 thousand vehicles, so the handling of the homecoming flow is different,” said Kakorlantas.
