Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The National Police Traffic Corps states that the national one-way system for the Eid al-Fitr exodus in 2026 will end tomorrow. However, the policy will still take into account the current traffic conditions on the toll road.

Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps, Agus Suryonugroho, said that the one-way traffic system on the toll road will be terminated tomorrow.

“The plan to close the national one-way mudik system will be evaluated tomorrow [Saturday] morning. If there are indeed no signs of traffic resurgence, the flow on the toll road is still light, including low traffic counts, then we will lift and stop the national one-way mudik. It is likely to be done in the afternoon,” said Inspector General Agus at the HI Roundabout, as quoted by detiknews, Friday (20/3/2026).

Agus mentioned that until Thursday (19/3) night, traffic conditions tended to be smooth. Therefore, the National Police Traffic Corps will coordinate with several related parties regarding the closure of the national one-way system.

“Tomorrow we will evaluate and collaborate with stakeholders, including the Minister of Transportation, the CEO of Jasa Marga, and we will report to the Chief of Police. The one-way mudik system may be lifted. We will announce the exact time later,” he said.

He explained that the peak of the mudik flow has passed with 270,000 vehicles passing in one day. There was a 4.2 percent increase in the number of vehicles during the peak mudik compared to last year.

“Secondly, on the toll road, we know that the peak mudik flow was on the 18th and 19th. So, approximately 270,000 vehicles, this year’s peak flow. Compared to last year, there is a 4.26% increase,” he stated.

The implementation of the national one-way system was officially applied on the Trans-Java Toll Road on Wednesday (18/3). The national one-way system was applied from Km 70 of the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road to Km 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Road.

The national one-way system was implemented starting at 13:30 WIB. The implementation of the national one-way system was carried out after a flag-off ceremony by the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi.
