National One-Way Return Traffic to Begin Tomorrow at 14:00
VIVA – The Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, explained the traffic scheme to handle the Lebaran return flow. The one-way system policy for the return traffic towards Jakarta will begin tomorrow at 14:00 WIB.
“Priority for high traffic is the national one-way return flow, which will be carried out on the 24th tomorrow at 14:00, with the flag-off directly led by the National Police Chief and several attending Ministers,” said Inspector General Agus to reporters on Monday, 23 March 2026.
Kakorlantas stated that today they also began socialisation regarding preparations for the national one-way return flow. The National Police Traffic Corps is holding a national one-way this afternoon at 14:00 WIB from KM 263 to KM 70 of the Cikampek Main Toll Road.
The national one-way return flow will start from KM 414 of the Kalikangkung Toll Road to KM 70 of the Cikampek Main Toll Road.
Inspector General Agus said that vehicles returning to Jakarta at the peak return flow tomorrow are predicted to be quite high. This is based on the high number of vehicles leaving Jakarta during this year’s Lebaran outbound peak.
“The peak day was 270,000 vehicles, so the return flow will be quite high. Up to now, only 43 percent have returned to Jakarta, so we will manage it well with traffic engineering mechanisms,” explained Inspector General Agus.
He assured that the National Police Traffic Corps has prepared several traffic policies to ease the flow of vehicles returning to Jakarta. However, Kakorlantas also asked drivers not to force their return tomorrow during the one-way return flow.
According to Inspector General Agus, the national one-way return flow policy could be extended until 26 March, depending on the traffic conditions on the toll road.
“So the national one-way return flow is not only on the 24th; we will extend it on the 25th if the traffic generation is high. When the traffic flow is low, we can manage it and possibly revoke it. Therefore, (return travellers) should not focus on returning on the 24th. There will be a build-up from KM 70 towards Jakarta. This is what we must anticipate so it can be dispersed,” he said.
