National One-Way Mudik Flow on Trans-Java Toll Road Ends, Police Conduct Route Normalisation

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG – The implementation of the one-way system from Gerbang Tol (GT) Cikampek Utama (Cikatama) to GT Kalikangkung in Semarang City ended on Friday (20/3/2026) at 14:00 WIB. Currently, police and personnel from related agencies are conducting sterilisation to reopen the flow from GT Kalikangkung to GT Cikatama.

“The one-way will be flagged off at 2 PM from GT Kalikangkung by the Head of Traffic Directorate (Polda Jateng). However, this instruction comes from the National Traffic Corps Headquarters of the Indonesian National Police. So the national one-way for the mudik flow ends at 2 PM today,” said the Head of Public Relations of Central Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol Artanto, when contacted.

He explained that the end of the national one-way from GT Cikatama to GT Kalikangkung was due to the decreasing number of vehicles. On Friday, the number of vehicles passing through GT Kalikangkung was only around 1,500 per hour.

According to Artanto, the peak of the mudik flow occurred on Wednesday (18/3/2026). That day, the number of vehicles passing through GT Kalikangkung averaged more than 3,000 per hour. “Even from 3 PM to 4 PM, the number reached 4,000 vehicles,” he said.

He revealed that for the normalisation of the flow from GT Kalikangkung to GT Cikatama, officers have conducted route sterilisation. “Sterilisation has started from Kalikangkung to Brebes. Then the West Java side will continue (the sterilisation) to the Cikampek gate,” said Artanto.

Artanto stated that the local one-way, which was previously applied from GT Kalikangkung KM 414 to Simpang Susun Bawen KM 442, also ended on Thursday night (19/3/2026), around 20:00 WIB. This was because the traffic flow and vehicle volume had decreased.
