National Nutrition Agency Warns Public About Scams Related to the Free Nutritious Meal Programme
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, has called on all staff and the public to be vigilant against the increasing number of alleged scams involving the sale of locations for Nutritional Service Units (SPPU) or kitchens under the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.
This is because there are individuals suspected of offering services to facilitate the processing, expedite registration, and verify SPPU locations, claiming to represent BGN officials, the government, or relatives and associates of certain officials.
“BGN requests that all staff actively engage in prevention and investigation if they find information, suspicions, or clues in the form of documents, evidence of conversations, chats, or communication on social media that indicate such fraudulent practices,” Sony said in a press release on Sunday (17 May 2026).
The first case is Police Report No. LP/B/5/I/2026/SPKT/West Java Police dated January 6, 2026, which is being handled by the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation at the West Java Police.
Sony said there are 21 victims in that police report and investigators have identified the suspect.
The second case is Complaint Report No. P/131/II/2026/Reskrim dated February 16, 2026, which is being handled by the East Lombok Police, with witness examinations ongoing.
Sony affirmed that BGN continues to coordinate with law enforcement agencies to monitor the progress of investigations and investigate the possibility of involvement of certain individuals, including those from within the agency.
As a preventive measure, BGN has also instructed all Heads of Regional Nutrition Service Centers (KPPG), Heads of MBG Task Forces at the district/city level, Coordinators of Nutritional Service Units (SPPI), and SPPI Area Coordinators to immediately report any indications of similar practices.
In addition, the public is also asked not to easily trust parties that offer services to facilitate the registration, verification, or submission of SPPU locations in exchange for a fee.
The public who know about or have been victims of alleged scams involving the sale of proposed locations or offers of other facilitation services are also encouraged to report immediately.
Sony said reports and information from the public can be submitted through the SAGI 127 hotline, as a form of joint support in overseeing the MBG programme so that it remains transparent, accountable, and targeted.
