National Nutrition Agency to Investigate Free Nutritious Meal Kitchens Using Subsidised Goods

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has prohibited nutrition service units (SPPG) from using MinyaKita cooking oil, 3kg LPG, and SPHP rice in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. The Head of BGN, Sudaryono, revealed that there is a possibility that the price difference resulting from the use of these subsidised materials will be returned to the state treasury.

“Regarding subsidised materials, we have sent out a circular and it is clear; in previous regulations, this has also been communicated. Therefore, there is a possibility that we intend to investigate kitchens that use these subsidised materials, and the price difference must be returned to the state treasury,” Sudaryono stated during a press conference at the BGN office in Central Jakarta on Friday (31/07/2026).

Sudaryono noted that investigations and data collection are ongoing, emphasising the BGN’s commitment to improving current governance. “For example, if they were supposed to purchase regular cooking oil but instead purchased MinyaKita, there is a price difference. Based on the results of our investigation, we may request that the difference, multiplied by the amount used, be returned to the state treasury,” he added.

Previously, BGN Head Sudaryono warned all SPPG managers, strictly forbidding the use of subsidised goods such as MinyaKita, 3kg LPG, and SPHP rice for cooking the Free Nutritious Meals. “It is not allowed. You must not cook for the MBG programme using MinyaKita, 3kg ‘melon’ gas, or SPHP rice. It is not permitted,” Sudaryor stated during a press conference at the BGN Office in Central Jakarta on Monday (27/07).
