The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has once again temporarily halted the operations of hundreds of nutrition service units (SPPG) for the free nutritious meals (MBG) programme in Regions II and III.

Director of Monitoring and Supervision for Region II of BGN, Albertus Doni Dewantoro, stated that this step was taken to ensure the free nutritious meals programme continues to meet quality and food safety standards.

Doni reported that to date, the number of SPPG suspended in Region II (Java Island) has reached 362 units. In the report period from 6 to 10 April 2026, there were an additional 41 SPPG subjected to temporary suspension sanctions.

“This enforcement is part of BGN’s commitment to maintaining service quality, food safety, and operational governance in the field,” said Doni in a written statement on Saturday, 11 April 2026.

From the detailed report, on Monday, 6 April 2026, nine SPPG were suspended due to various findings, such as the absence of nutrition and financial supervisors in Bogor, unfit menus in Brebes, and several kitchens in East Java still undergoing renovation.

Doni said there were no additional cases on 7 April. However, on 8 April, the number of enforcements increased to 15 SPPG in various areas. In addition to renovation factors, cases were found including digestive issues in Cimahi, organisational management problems in Kendal, and the absence of nutrition supervisors in Purworejo.

Subsequently, on Thursday, 9 April, 14 more SPPG were suspended. Doni revealed that problems found included aspects of human resources (HR) in South Jakarta, as well as suspected digestive issues in Bogor, Tasikmalaya, and Bantul, alongside renovations that still dominated.

Then, on Friday, 10 April 2026, three SPPG were enforced with findings of unfinished renovations, suspected digestive issues in Mojokerto, and unfit menus in Sampang.

Meanwhile, BGN has also enforced hundreds of SPPG in Region III or the eastern region. Director of Monitoring and Supervision for Region III of BGN, Rudi Setiawan, stated that out of a total of approximately 4,300 SPPG, 165 units have been temporarily halted because they do not possess Hygiene Sanitation Fitness Certificates (SLHS) and do not yet have wastewater treatment installations (IPAL).

Rudi said this temporary operational suspension is a corrective step to ensure all SPPG meet the established standards.

BGN previously temporarily stopped 1,256 SPPG in eastern Indonesia starting from 1 April 2026. That temporary suspension action was taken because those SPPG had not registered hygiene sanitation fitness certificates (SLHS).

BGN emphasises that all suspended kitchens are required to carry out improvements before they can resume operations.
