Natuna (ANTARA) - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily closed the operations of the Air Asuk Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) in Kepulauan Anambas Regency, Riau Islands Province (Kepri).

Coordinator of BGN for Anambas Regency, Sahril, confirmed from Natuna on Thursday that an extraordinary event (KLB) in the form of suspected food poisoning occurred on Wednesday (15/4), affecting the beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in the Air Asuk area.

“The exact cause, whether it truly stems from the MBG programme, is still under investigation and testing by the hospital, health centres, and the Health Office,” Sahril stated.

He mentioned that the number of victims from the incident is estimated at 158 people. Transporting the victims to health facilities was the first step taken by his team to ensure their safety through prompt medical treatment.

The temporary closure of SPPG operations was also implemented as a precautionary measure to protect the public and prevent similar incidents from recurring.

BGN assures continued coordination with relevant parties to ensure service safety before operations resume.

“The closure has been in effect since the incident and will continue for an undetermined period, pending further investigation and evaluation results,” he added.
