National Nutrition Agency: Nutritional Service Units to Receive Rp 144 Million Monthly Incentives
The National Nutrition Agency reports that, as of today, there are 24,000 nutritional service units (SPPG) providing free nutritious meals. The Head of the BGN, Dadan Hindayana, stated that these thousands of SPPGs were built through a partnership scheme with various institutions and individuals. Dadan claims that building the nutritious meal kitchens (MBG) through this partnership scheme simplifies and accelerates the implementation of the programme in the field. “This partnership has yielded positive results and facilitated the nutritious meal programme, so that today, across Indonesia, there are 24,000 SPPGs, from Sabang to Merauke,” Dadan said in a written statement on Monday, 23 February 2026. Therefore, Dadan said, the BGN will provide an incentive of Rp 6 million per day for each SPPG, or approximately Rp 144 million per month. “This scheme is much more efficient than the government building and managing all the facilities independently,” he said. The provision of incentives to these kitchens has previously caused a stir on social media. Agus Sarwono, a researcher at Transparency International Indonesia, questioned the provision of incentives amidst the ongoing implementation of the SPPG, which is still chaotic. For example, the quality of the menu does not meet standards, and there are many cases of food poisoning. The MBG Watch member believes that there is no guarantee that the kitchens will not take excessive profits from the set portion value, which is Rp 10,000 and Rp 8,000. According to Agus, the SPPGs have considerable discretion in determining the number of portions. This situation, he said, opens the door to irregularities because there is no certainty that the kitchens are actually distributing 3,000 portions, or whether this is just an administrative claim. “It is possible that there is an overestimation of the number of beneficiaries. They might actually distribute 2,000 portions, but claim 3,000,” Agus said on Tuesday, 17 February 2026. Andi Adam contributed to the writing of this article.
