National Nutrition Agency Leadership Reshuffled, Palace Urges Nanik to Consolidate Immediately
The Presidential Palace has requested the three new top officials of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to immediately undergo internal consolidation and strengthen cross-sector coordination. President Prabowo Subianto recently reshuffled the leadership structure of the BGN—the agency responsible for his flagship Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme—on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
According to Prabowo’s decision, the position of Head of the BGN is now held by Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, accompanied by Agustina Arumsari and Major General (Rtd) Trenggono as deputies. Meanwhile, the three officials departing from the top leadership positions are Dadan Hindayana, Inspector General (Rtd) Sony Sanjaya, and Lieutenant General (Rtd) Lodewyk Pusung.
“To the three new leaders of the National Nutrition Agency, we hope that you can immediately conduct internal consolidation and strengthen coordination across ministries and agencies,” stated Prasetyo during a press conference at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, as broadcast via the President’s Secretariat YouTube channel.
Furthermore, the government has also requested the three BGN leaders to strengthen coordination with regional governments, including provincial and regency/city administrations, to ensure that all National Nutrition Agency programmes continue to run optimally.
The Gerindra Party politician expressed hope that the new BGN leadership could accelerate the implementation of Prabowo’s priority programmes, improve performance, and enhance the agency’s organisational governance, ultimately providing tangible benefits to the public, particularly in efforts to improve nutrition, health, and Indonesia’s human resources.
On the other hand, Prasetyo ensured that BGN projects will continue as planned despite ongoing government evaluations. He emphasised that public services must not be disrupted and that every work unit within the BGN is required to continue performing their duties according to their respective responsibilities.
“The government reiterates that this change in leadership will not disrupt our commitment to implementing the free nutritious meal programme carried out by the National Nutrition Agency,” he said.
Prasetyo noted that President Prabowo’s decision to reshuffle the BGN leadership structure was based on the results of monitoring and evaluation over the past 1.5 years. According to Prasetyo, Prabowo conducts daily monitoring and evaluation of the entire performance of the Red and White Cabinet, including the National Nutrition Agency. During this evaluation process, Prabowo received input from various parties, including ministries and the public as beneficiaries of the MBG project.
Prasetyo stated that there were several notes regarding BGN’s performance that were taken into consideration by the Head of State. One of these related to issues of discipline in implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
“There were also matters concerning discipline in governance, including discipline in maintaining the quality of food that should have been established by the National Nutrition Agency,” he added.
The Gerindra politician stated that the change in BGN leadership is expected to address these issues. He reminded that the National Nutrition Agency plays a strategic role in supporting the government’s agenda in improving public nutrition quality. Therefore, the BGN is required to possess strong governance and effective cross-sector coordination.
