The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BKS), Sudaryono, has requested that CCTV cameras at every Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) be connected to the central office to tighten supervision of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

Sudaryono also requested that partners do not remain hands-off and must continue to oversee SPPG operations to ensure that the MBG programme reaches its intended beneficiaries accurately.

“Do not simply leave everything in the hands of the kitchen team; there must be continuous supervision. Cooking should not take too long and must be efficient. The CCTV footage will be pulled to the central office and equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI) so that actions, such as someone cutting cabbage on the floor without wearing gloves, can be detected. Therefore, for the heads of SPPG, ensure the CCTV is connected to the centre,” he stated during the simultaneous inauguration of SPPGs in frontier, outermost, and least developed (3T) regions in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi, on Friday (2/10/2026).

He emphasised that the opening of SPPGs, both in 3T regions and urban agglomerations, is conducted centrally based on the BGN’s systems and data.

Consequently, he urged the public to immediately report any instances of brokerage or unauthorised middleman practices to the authorities.

“The opening of these kitchens is initiated directly by the BGN central office; there are no brokers. If you find services claiming that a fee must be paid to open a unit, report it to the authorities, and we will ensure they are punished,” he said.

Sudaryono also requested that local governments contribute by conducting spot checks on SPPGs to ensure food safety for MBG beneficiaries.

“We request that Regents, Mayors, and local governments all inspect the SPPGs. If possible, at 2 or 3 in the morning, using a checklist of what must and must not be present in the SPPG. We ask for inspections regarding cleanliness and discipline, as well as for the schools,” he added.

As of 2 October 2026, the BGN is activating SPPGs in regions with high stunting prevalence and 3T areas. These SPPGs will be activated across 16 provinces and 116 regencies/cities in eastern Indonesia, as part of the effort to expand the reach of the MBG programme.

A total of 480 SPPGs are being activated, consisting of 211 independent partner SPPGs and 269 remote SPPGs. The activation covers 16 provinces, namely Highland Papua, Central Papua, Southern Papua, Papua, Central Sulawesi, Southwest Papua, West Papua, North Maluku, Maluku, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, West Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara, South Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara.
