National Nutrition Agency Discovers 414 Problematic Nutrition Service Accounts

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has discovered 414 Nutrition Service Units (SPPG) with problematic virtual accounts. This finding emerged after the BGN audited 27,469 kitchens operating under the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.

The Head of BGN, Sudaryono, explained that anomalies occurred due to duplicate virtual accounts and instances where accounts remained active despite the kitchens being non-operational. “As a result, we have returned state funds, the people’s money, amounting to Rp311,246,295,184 following our investigation of these 414 SPPGs or kitchens,” Sudaryono stated at the BGN Office in Central Jakarta on Friday, 31 July 2026.

The total funds, worth approximately Rp311 billion, have been returned to the state treasury, distributed through five banks: BRI (Rp137.5 billion), BNI (Rp74 billion), Mandiri (Rp71.6 billion), BTN (Rp15.3 billion), and Bank Syariah Indonesia (Rp12.9 billion).

Sudaryono emphasised that the BGN will continue to scrutinise other problematic SPPG accounts. Furthermore, the agency has reported these findings to the Attorney General’s Office for legal follow-up. “Whether there are indications of mens rea—such as the intent to steal, corrupt, or embezzle funds—we leave entirely to the law enforcement at the Prosecutor’s Office to examine,” the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture asserted.

Since being inaugurated last week, Sudaryono has initiated an internal cleanup within the BGN. He reminded all parties that no partners, kitchen owners, or internal BGN officials are above the law. Sudaryono stressed that SPPG Heads, who hold the status of Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK), are state organisers and are strictly prohibited from requesting or receiving any form of reward from partners or foundations. “Any SPPG Head who receives or requests fees or additional payments from partners or foundations is committing the criminal offence of gratification,” he stated in a previous press conference.

To maintain transparency, the BGN has opened an official reporting channel for partners, foundations, and the public to report suspected illegal levies (pungli) and violations in the implementation of the MBG programme. All incoming reports will be processed in accordance with applicable laws.
