National Nutrition Agency defers investigation of alleged criminal offences in Free Nutritious Meal case to law enforcement
Whether criminal offences have been committed depends entirely on the results of investigations by law enforcement agencies.
he Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, has deferred the legal process regarding alleged criminal acts in cases of health disturbances following the consumption of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme to law enforcement authorities.
“Whether it is a criminal matter or not depends on the results of the investigation by law enforcement agencies,” Sudaryono said following a meeting with Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Thursday night.
Sudaryono stated that based on reports received, several cases of health disturbances have entered the investigation stage. However, he did not specify the locations or the particular cases involved.
“Whether there are suspects or not? We leave that to the results of the investigation or inquiry by law enforcement officers in the field,” he added.
The reported cases include incidents occurring in Sidoarjo, East Java; Agam, West Sumatra; and Lasem, Central Java.
“We are certainly very shaken, but we must not give up. God willing, we will improve all aspects of governance, regulations, financial management, and so on,” said Sudaryono.
