National Nutrition Agency Allocates Rp232.50 Trillion for Free Nutritious Meal Programme, Targeting Students to Toddlers
The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, revealed that his agency has been granted a budget ceiling of Rp240.20 trillion for the year 2027.
Initially, as of 7 May 2026, the total BGN budget for 2027 reached Rp270.20 trillion. However, following efficiency measures, the budget was reduced by Rp30 trillion.
“Specifically, it is Rp240,201,499,678,000. There has been an efficiency of Rp30 trillion,” stated Sudaryono during a meeting with Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 3 September 2026.
Sudaryono explained that the Rp30 trillion budget cut was taken from the government assistance component for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which was reduced from an original Rp265.5 trillion to Rp232.5 trillion.
Furthermore, he disclosed that the total budget ceiling is divided into two programmes. First, the national nutritional fulfilment programme, amounting to Rp232.88 trillion, or 96.95 per cent.
“And second, management support programme support amounting to Rp7.33 trillion, or 3.05 per cent of the total BGN budget for 2027,” said Sudaryono.
Of this total, Rp233.12 trillion is allocated for goods expenditure and Rp7.08 trillion for personnel expenditure.
He added that the largest portion of the BGN budget is allocated to the implementation of the MBG programme, amounting to Rp232.50 trillion.
“This consists of the provision of nutritious meals for students, teachers, and educational staff amounting to Rp198.96 trillion, as well as the 3B group (pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers) amounting to Rp33.54 trillion,” Sudaryono noted.
Meanwhile, technical non-MBG activities for nutritional fulfilment are allocated Rp373.3 billion. This budget will be used for the standardisation of MBG kitchens, training for food providers, supply chain monitoring, as well as food quality and safety monitoring across all operational areas.
Sudaryono added that the management support programme budget of Rp7.33 trillion is divided into salaries and employee allowances of Rp7.08 trillion, and office operations and maintenance of Rp81.7 billion.
Additionally, non-operational management support is allocated Rp160 billion. This is intended for legal assistance, public relations, regulatory drafting, procurement of goods and services, internal supervision, and other needs.
