The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) destroyed evidence from five narcotics cases. The total evidence destroyed weighed 102 kilogrammes, comprising cannabis, methamphetamine, and synthetic tobacco.

A portion of the evidence was destroyed at the BNN headquarters complex in East Jakarta on Wednesday (18/2/2026), whilst the remainder was processed at PT Jasa Medivest Plant Dawuan in Karawang, West Java.

“The narcotics evidence destroyed is the result of case disclosures in various regions of Indonesia, namely in Aceh, Banten, and DKI Jakarta, with types of evidence including methamphetamine, cannabis, and synthetic tobacco originating from clandestine laboratory raids,” said Acting Deputy for Eradication at BNN, Brigadier General Roy Hardi Siahaan.

The destroyed evidence was the result of narcotics case disclosures throughout January 2026. These included a narcotics smuggling case on the Medan-Banda Aceh Highway, as well as methamphetamine found on a man at Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Cengkareng some time ago.

“The evidence destroyed totalled 102,369 grammes, consisting of 100,531 grammes of methamphetamine, 889 grammes of cannabis, 990 millilitres of MDMB liquid (synthetic cannabis), and 949 grammes of solid MDMB,” Roy stated.

Roy explained that the destruction of evidence was carried out in accordance with Law Number 34 of 2009. Under the law, he said, evidence must be destroyed with a portion set aside for court proceedings.

The BNN also involved the National Police’s Forensic Laboratory Centre (Puslabfor) and public prosecutors in the evidence destruction process. Roy stated that the seized and destroyed evidence was equivalent to saving 401,460 lives from the dangers of drug abuse.

“From the quantity of methamphetamine, cannabis, and synthetic tobacco successfully seized and destroyed, BNN has managed to save approximately 401,460 people from the potential for narcotics abuse,” he said.

The destruction was carried out using an incinerator machine, a device specifically designed for destroying narcotics evidence.

“The destruction of evidence serves as a reminder that every citizen has an important role in the war against drugs, through prevention, education, and reporting cases of abuse and illicit narcotics trafficking,” Roy said.

“To that end, BNN urges all levels of society to actively participate in efforts to combat drugs, starting from safeguarding family and community environments, supporting anti-narcotics education programmes, and reporting any indication of drug abuse and illicit narcotics trafficking,” he concluded.
