National MSME Day: BRI Peduli Boosts MSMEs Through Sustainable Mentoring in 'Desa Brilian'
Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) play an important role in driving community economic growth while optimising local economic potential. In commemoration of National MSME Day, observed every 12 August, BRI Peduli, as the umbrella for the Social and Environmental Responsibility Programme (TJSL), continues to support MSME players across various regions in Indonesia through capacity building, business mentoring, expansion of market access, and the provision of business facilities and infrastructure.
One such support is provided to MSME players in Brilian Village. One area with a growing MSME ecosystem aligned with local economic potential is Brilian Hargobinangun Village, Pakem District, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta.
Located in an area with tourism potential, MSMEs in Brilian Hargobinangun operate across various sectors, from local culinary specialities to tourism services. Their presence supports tourism activities while strengthening the village’s economic potential.
Hargobinangun Village Head Amin Sarjito said that MSMEs play a role in strengthening the village’s tourism potential. According to him, the growth of local MSMEs adds value to Hargobinangun as one of the tourist destinations in the Sleman region.
In line with this potential, BRI Peduli provides support tailored to the needs of business players, including facilities and infrastructure to support business activities as well as market stall assistance to support MSME sales activities.
“Our village has a lot of potential. One of the main potentials is tourism, which is supported by local MSMEs, ranging from tourism services to local culinary specialities in the Hargobinangun area. So, MSMEs are not only a source of income for the community but also strengthen the village’s appeal as a tourist destination,” said Amin.
The support is also complemented by direct mentoring through BRI Mantri, marketing officers and microcredit supervisors who serve and assist business players. The mentoring is carried out through coaching, financial education, and monitoring of customer business development.
One of the beneficiaries is Darmiyati, the owner of Jadah Tempe Mbok Tenggok, who has received mentoring and business support facilities. The market stall assistance from BRI Peduli provides a more proper and comfortable place to sell, enabling Darmiyati to run her business more optimally.
