Today, we are demonstrating two things: the spirit of staying healthy and the spirit of supporting the literacy program, which is the primary task of the National Library. Literacy is the result of collaboration, the result of working together.

The National Library of the Republic of Indonesia (Perpusnas) celebrated its 46th anniversary by holding a literacy run to cultivate reading habits while also promoting healthy living.

The Head of Perpusnas, E. Aminudin Aziz, stated in Jakarta on Sunday that the Literacy Run was also held as a commitment from Perpusnas to continue supporting the literacy program.

“Today, we are demonstrating two things: the spirit of staying healthy and the spirit of supporting the literacy program, which is the primary task of the National Library. Literacy is the result of collaboration, the result of working together,” he said.

Through the Literacy Run, the celebration of Perpusnas’ 46th anniversary and National Book Day reaffirms the commitment that running is not just a sport, but also a symbol of commitment to maintaining health while supporting the literacy program.

A total of 300 runners enlivened the event. The route passed through iconic locations in Jakarta, starting from Sarinah, Bundaran HI, Bundaran Patung Kuda, City Hall and ending at the Merdeka Selatan National Library building.

Aminudin also expressed his appreciation to all parties who supported this event, which was attended by participants from various regions, including Tegal, as well as from other ministries/agencies. This event is also a collaboration with the ASN Nation community through the ASN Runners Program.

Their presence added to the excitement of the competition and also showed cross-agency support for the literacy movement.

The 5K Literacy Run became a symbol of Perpusnas’ journey in strengthening the nation’s literacy culture. At the age of 46, Perpusnas continues to be committed to moving forward, innovating, and serving the community, as well as making literacy the foundation of Indonesian civilization.
