National Investment Target for 2027 Reaches Rp2,322 Trillion, Government Pushes Job Creation
The government is targeting national investment realisation of Rp2,322 trillion in 2027. This target is higher than the 2026 investment goal of Rp2,041 trillion.
The higher investment target is expected to further strengthen national economic growth while opening up more job opportunities for the public.
Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani said investment is one of the main pillars of Indonesia’s economic growth. This is reflected in the contribution of investment to economic growth in the second quarter of 2026.
“Economic growth in the second quarter of 2026 was 5.29 percent. Investment contributed approximately 39 percent of total growth in the second quarter of 2026,” Rosan said during a press conference on the 2027 State Budget Draft and Financial Note at the DJP Building in Jakarta on Friday (14/8/2026).
According to Rosan, the 39 percent investment contribution is above the normal range, which generally sits at 28 to 29 percent. This indicates the growing role of investment in supporting national economic growth.
The 2027 investment target is part of a national investment goal of approximately Rp13,032 trillion over the 2025–2029 period. This five-year target represents an increase of around 143 percent compared with investment realisation over the previous ten years.
Meanwhile, investment realisation in the first half of 2026 reached approximately Rp1,010.6 trillion. This achievement grew by 7.2 percent and absorbed around 1.45 million direct workers, an increase of 15 percent.
Rosan added that this workforce figure does not yet include indirect employment opportunities or supporting activities arising from various investment activities. Therefore, the impact of investment on the economy cannot be measured solely by the value of incoming investment.
The government, Rosan continued, wants to ensure that investment entering Indonesia delivers a real impact on public welfare. Investment is not only directed at chasing numerical targets but must also be able to create quality jobs.
“Every rupiah of investment must create good and quality jobs, while also improving the quality of life of our people,” Rosan stressed.
With investment targets continuing to rise, the government hopes that stronger investment can become one of the main engines of Indonesia’s economic growth while expanding employment opportunities and improving the quality of life of the public.
