National Internship Programme Reopens for 150,000 Participants
The government will reopen the National Internship Programme for Batch 4 in July 2026. Currently, Batch 3 is ongoing and will conclude on 15 June 2026, while the first and second batches have already been completed.
Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that this year’s quota has increased compared to 2025. “For 2026, we are ready to provide internship opportunities for 150,000 people, up from last year’s 100,000,” he said during a press conference at the Ministry of Manpower’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
Yassierli added that his team is currently finalising the process and procedures, with the Ministry of Manpower already coordinating with companies.
In the first stage, companies will upload internship vacancies, which will then be verified by the Ministry of Manpower. Interns will subsequently select and undergo administrative or online selection processes as per company-set mechanisms.
Yassierli expressed hope that this initiative would benefit recent graduates—those who have completed their studies within the past year. The initial target for the 2026 cohort is 50,000 people. “We will open subsequent batches, with a total of 150,000 participants,” he added.
The National Internship Programme is part of the second-quarter 2026 economic stimulus package. Previously, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto announced a budget allocation of Rp4.14 trillion.
Participants will receive benefits including a salary, stipend, and internship certificate. The stipend is entirely funded by the government, not the companies.
