National Internship Programme Eases Industry Access to Job-Ready Talent, Says Minister

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Manpower Yassierli said the National Internship Programme (MagangHub) has become a more effective recruitment mechanism for the business world to obtain talent suited to industry’s needs.

“Based on input from company management, the National Internship Programme provides tangible benefits. Companies have the opportunity to develop, mentor and directly assess the competencies of prospective workers before deciding to recruit them as employees,” the Minister said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He assessed that on-the-job learning allows companies to gain a more complete picture of participants’ competencies and readiness before they are hired.

“The National Internship Programme gives companies greater certainty in obtaining talent that matches industry needs,” said Yassierli.

The Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) professor noted that the programme not only benefits companies, but also serves as a vehicle for fresh graduates, particularly university graduates without work experience, to gain real work experience in industry.

Through the programme, he continued, participants can enhance their competencies, build a strong work ethic and increase their chances of being recruited as employees.

Furthermore, Minister Yassierli added that the successful absorption of internship alumni into employment also demonstrates the importance of strengthening synergy between the government, the business world and educational institutions in building a labour ecosystem that is adaptive to industry’s needs.

“In this way, company productivity increases, while graduates have a greater chance of securing decent employment,” he added.
