Minister of Manpower Yassierli stated that the stipend for participants in the 2026 National Internship Programme will continue to be fully covered by the government, with partner companies yet to share the cost. ‘There is no sharing yet [with partner companies]. The stipend amount equals the local minimum wage in each internship location, whether city/regency (UMK) or provincial (UMP) minimum wage,’ Yassierli said during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. The programme has a quota of 150,000 participants. However, the Ministry is still reviewing proposals to split the stipend contribution between the government and partner companies. ‘We want companies to be more involved, and we will develop more robust mentorship and evaluation mechanisms,’ Yassierli added. ‘Such commitments would be stronger if companies are required from the outset to contribute financially and provide competency certificates at the end of the programme.’
