National Internship Programme 2026 Registration Uses Biometric Verification to Block Scalpers

The Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) is implementing a biometric system for registration in the national internship programme. Minister of Manpower Yassierli said the move is intended to prevent scalping practices during the registration process.

Yassierli stated that the national internship programme is currently in the registration phase, which opened on 15 July and will close on 28 July 2026. He said that before the programme opened, his ministry had already verified all vacancies submitted by companies, ministries, and agencies.

“We carry out quite strict verification. We look at, first, whether the company is sound, whether it honestly reports its employment data,” Yassierli said after a meeting with House of Representatives Commission IX at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (20/7/2026).

“Second, whether the company is genuinely opening vacancies that match the position of a university graduate. If not, we strike it off,” he continued.

He explained that the verification includes checking the company’s physical existence to ensure the vacancies are not fictitious. “That is why, in the phase before we opened registration, we carried out verification. We check whether the company’s location really exists, whether it is fictitious, and so on,” he said.

In addition, he noted that this year’s national internship programme is also open to persons with disabilities and professional degree graduates. He said that, from an administrative standpoint, the registration process has now been strengthened with biometrics.

According to him, the biometric system means participants must register independently. He expressed hope that the programme’s implementation could become a solution for preparing a better workforce.

“We are already using biometrics, so there can no longer be any internship registration scalpers. So they have to register themselves,” he stressed.

“Hopefully this will be better, much better, and we need support from all our media colleagues. We hope this national internship programme becomes one of the solutions for preparing our workforce to be better and more productive,” he concluded.
