National ID cards

National ID cards

From Suara Karya

Many low-income people have been complaining about the high administrative cost attached to changing regional ID cards into national ID cards. The procedure is further complicated by irregular costs, an additional financial burden.

The national ID card looks like a credit card but it is more expensive to process than the regional one. It is unsuitable for most of Indonesia's farmers, laborers, fishermen, workers, etc. who have an average income of Rp 150,000 per month. They cannot afford paying Rp 25,000 for an ID card.

Before making any changes of the regional ID cards into national ID cards, the matter should be thoroughly studied because it would involve high costs, the result of collusion, manipulation, nepotism and other such practices.

Making IDs is an administrative matter that should not be a burden on the community.

What is wrong with regional IDs that they should be replaced by national IDs at a high cost?

The project should be canceled and regional IDs reinstated.
