JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) is encouraging universities, Islamic boarding schools, and community organisations to establish task forces on sexual offences (Satgas TPKS).

This task force is one of the efforts to strengthen prevention and protection for victims of sexual violence in educational environments.

In a discussion with Fatayat NU in Blitar Regency, Komnas HAM Chairman Anis Hidayat said that every institution needs to build mechanisms for preventing and handling sexual violence.

The Satgas TPKS is needed so that institutions have a clear reporting system, victim support, and are quick to handle alleged cases of sexual violence.

The presence of the Satgas TPKS is also important to ensure protection for victims of alleged sexual violence.

“A mechanism must be built, including at the community level, on how to prevent sexual violence,” said Anis.

Anis reminded that prevention efforts cannot stand alone but must run in tandem with strict law enforcement.
