National Human Rights Commission Summons Metro Jaya Police on Kontras Activist Acid Attack Case, Here Are the Results
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) sought statements from Metro Jaya Regional Police officials on Monday (30/3/2026). This step was taken to delve deeper into the case of the acid attack on Kontras Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus.
Komnas HAM Monitoring and Investigation Commissioner Saurlin P Siagian stated that the statement-giving process lasted around three hours. During the statement provided by the Director of General Criminal Investigation of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, they obtained a series of investigative processes that have been and will be conducted by the police.
“So we focused on that, and we have also obtained a lot of information from Metro Jaya Regional Police. We think there are enough facts that we need; some things have been conveyed, and we are still requesting some additional items from Metro Jaya Regional Police to be submitted to us,” he said on Monday.
According to him, Metro Jaya Regional Police has confirmed that the acid attack perpetrator is a member of the Indonesian Military’s Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS TNI). Currently, the TNI has detained the said perpetrators.
Nevertheless, Saurlin stated that Metro Jaya Regional Police will continue the investigative process related to the case. The investigation will not be halted even though the acid attack perpetrator is a TNI member.
“PMJ (Metro Jaya Regional Police) is also continuing the investigation. So they are not stopping the investigation; they are still proceeding with it,” he said.
