JAKARTA — The Chair of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) has called upon the police force to conduct a transparent investigation into the acid attack against Andrie Yunus, Vice Chair of the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence (Kontras).

“The police should conduct the investigation and prosecution process in an independent, swift, transparent, and accountable manner in handling this case,” said Anis in his statement on Friday, 13 March 2026.

Andrie Yunus is recognised as an advocate for active democracy, known for his critical stance and human rights defence work.

In addition to pressing the police institution, Komnas HAM has also called upon the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to act swiftly in providing protective measures for Andrie. As a victim, Andrie is deemed entitled to protection as a result of the attack if necessary.

“Third, we encourage recovery for the victim, both physically and psychologically,” he added.

The recording activity concluded around 23:00 Western Indonesia Time. The incident, which occurred on Salemba I Road, Tangerang, resulted in Andrie suffering 24 per cent burn injuries. He is now undergoing treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital for eye surgery due to the acid exposure and treatment for burn injuries across his body.
