National Human Rights Commission Awaits TNI Schedule to Examine Four Suspects in Andrie Yunus Case
The National Human Rights Commission states that there has been no confirmation of attendance from the four TNI soldiers suspected in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Komnas HAM is still awaiting the examination schedule for the four suspects.
“No (confirmation of attendance). We have not received a schedule from the TNI side; we are still waiting,” said Komnas HAM Monitoring and Investigation Commissioner Saurlin P. Siagian when contacted on Friday (10/4/2026).
Saurlin did not detail what would be explored in the examination of the suspects. He said his side is still awaiting the suspects’ presence.
“We cannot share the substance yet. (For follow-up plans) we will see and wait first,” he stated.
Previously, Komnas HAM said it plans to take statements from the four TNI members suspected of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Komnas HAM will conduct an in-depth examination of the evidence.
“Komnas HAM plans to take statements from the four suspects and other parties, request expert testimonies, and conduct an in-depth examination of the evidence,” said Komnas HAM commissioner Saurlin P. Siagian to reporters on Friday (3/3).
To examine these four TNI soldiers, Komnas HAM has also sent a letter to the TNI.
As is known, Andrie Yunus became the victim of an acid attack on Thursday night (12/3). The TNI’s Central Military Police then arrested four individuals suspected of carrying out the acid attack on Andrie Yunus. All four are known to be members of the TNI’s Bais Military Police Corps from the Navy (AL) and Air Force (AU) branches.
“We state that all four suspected perpetrators are members of the TNI’s Bais Military Police Corps, not from any specific unit, but from the TNI’s Bais Military Police Corps,” said TNI Central Military Police Chief Major General TNI Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3).
Current Condition of Andrie Yunus
Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS) Andrie Yunus is still receiving intensive care at the National General Hospital Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM). RSCM officials revealed that the burn injuries suffered by Andrie Yunus show significant improvement.
“The burns experienced by the patient have shown significant improvement, with most of the wound areas having been treated through grafting or skin transplant procedures,” said RSCM Legal and Public Relations Manager Yoga Nara in his statement, as quoted by Antara on Thursday (9/4/2026).
On Tuesday (7/4), Andrie Yunus underwent another surgical procedure to clean residual dead skin tissue in the back neck area and further skin grafting to support optimal healing. The hospital is also treating Andrie Yunus’s eye condition due to acid exposure.
“Regarding the eye condition, it is currently in the advanced treatment stage. The eyeball is covered with membrane tissue (tenon and conjunctiva), and temporary suturing of the eyelids is performed to protect the eyeball structure and accelerate the healing process,” Yoga said.
“Ultrasonography (USG) examination results show that the posterior wall of the eyeball remains intact,” he added.
The eye covering is planned to last approximately four to six months, with periodic evaluations using eye USG to monitor overall progress.
