National Holidays and Collective Leave Schedule for May 2026
May 2026 will be one of the periods with the most holidays in the year. In addition to national holidays, the government has also designated collective leave days that could turn some occasions into long weekends.
According to the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) of three ministers, there will be a total of six holiday days throughout May 2026. The breakdown consists of four national holidays and two collective leave days.
Here is the list of national holidays in May 2026:
Friday, 1 May 2026: International Labour Day
Thursday, 14 May 2026: Ascension of Jesus Christ
Wednesday, 27 May 2026: Iduladha 1447 Hijriah
Sunday, 31 May 2026: Vesak Day 2570 BE
Meanwhile, the collective leave falls after two major religious occasions, namely:
Friday, 15 May 2026: Collective leave for Ascension of Jesus Christ
Thursday, 28 May 2026: Collective leave for Iduladha 1447 Hijriah
With the dates positioned close to weekends, the public can take advantage of several extended holiday periods.
For Labour Day, a long weekend will occur from 1-3 May 2026, from Friday to Sunday. Then, for the Ascension of Jesus Christ commemoration, the long holiday will run from 14-17 May 2026, from Thursday to Sunday, thanks to the additional collective leave.
Meanwhile, the longest period is at the end of the month. The Iduladha and Vesak holidays are close together, starting from 27 May to 1 June 2026. If taking additional leave on Friday, 29 May, the public can enjoy a holiday of up to six consecutive days.
This period includes Iduladha (27 May), collective leave (28 May), recommended leave (29 May), weekend (30-31 May), and Pancasila Birth Day on 1 June.
Regarding the collective leave regulations, the government stipulates that for private sector workers or employees, collective leave generally reduces their annual leave quota according to each company’s policy. Meanwhile, for Civil Servants (ASN), collective leave does not deduct from their annual leave rights.
