The Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) engaged hundreds of online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) to become pioneers of road safety through the ‘Kopdar Kebangsaan Jaga Jakarta’ event. In addition to receiving safety riding training, the drivers were also provided with free motorcycle servicing and health services to support safety on the roads.

Deputy Chief of Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Brigadier General Dekananto, expressed appreciation for the community’s solidarity and hoped the community could take a greater role in building a culture of orderly traffic and become role models in public spaces.

“You are not only part of Jakarta’s mobility, but also pioneers of safety, order, and exemplary conduct in maintaining harmony within society,” said Brigadier General Dekananto on Saturday (22/8/2026).

On the occasion, Brigadier General Dekananto conveyed four messages: taking care of oneself and others, becoming pioneers of order on the road, strengthening solidarity, and maintaining unity and brotherhood among communities.

The National Gathering was also marked by a joint declaration involving the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, online motorcycle taxi communities, and automotive communities. Brigadier General Dekananto hoped the spirit of togetherness would continue to be applied in daily activities.

“Be orderly on the road, care for others, and together let us keep Jakarta safe,” added Brigadier General Dekananto.

During the event, the Deputy Chief also invited all participants to pray for the people in East Nusa Tenggara who were experiencing a disaster.

“Amidst our joy in commemorating the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia, let us not forget our brothers and sisters in East Nusa Tenggara who are experiencing a disaster. Let us together pray that they are given strength, safety, and fortitude, and that the situation can recover soon,” he concluded.

Health services and motorcycle servicing were among the facilities utilised by online motorcycle taxi drivers during the event held at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police headquarters. The service provided participants with the opportunity to check their health conditions amidst their activities.

One participant, Rizal, an online motorcycle taxi driver from South Jakarta, took advantage of the available health services. He appreciated the attention given to drivers who spend much of their daily time working on the road.

“Hello, my name is Rizal from South Jakarta online motorcycle taxi. I have received health services and would like to thank the Chief of Jakarta Metropolitan Police,” said Rizal.

For online motorcycle taxi drivers, physical condition is an important part of supporting safety while working. The health checks are expected to help participants better understand their body condition before returning to activities on the road.

The National Gathering also included safety riding training, free motorcycle servicing, driving licence renewal services, a decorated motorcycle parade, and various community competitions. Rizal hoped that attention to driver health could continue to be part of activities involving online motorcycle taxi communities.
