National Fuel Reserves Range from 27 to 28 Days
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) states that the availability of fuel oil (BBM) and electricity supply is secure ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026. The government urges the public to remain calm and avoid excessive fuel purchases.
Deputy Minister of ESDM Yuliot Tanjung said that the current national BBM reserves are in the range of 27 to 28 days. βFor BBM availability, the minimum reserve has already been surpassed. The public can safely enjoy the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming,β he said, quoted from the official Ministry of ESDM website, Thursday, 19 March 2026.
According to him, this amount is above the minimum limit, deemed sufficient to meet needs during the homecoming period. This condition indicates that energy supplies, both for transportation and electricity sectors, remain at a safe level. Therefore, the public is asked not to engage in panic buying.
The government, Yuliot said, is also not imposing any restrictions on BBM purchases during the Eid holiday period. This policy applies both at the central and regional levels.
Yuliot urged the public to remain orderly while queuing at public fuelling stations (SPBU), especially during periods of increased consumption. In addition to BBM, the government ensures that electricity supply is under control.
The installed capacity of the electricity system reaches around 52 gigawatts, while the peak load is in the range of 35 percent. With this condition, there is a power reserve or risk margin of around 48 percent.
