Jakarta — The National Food Agency (Bapanas) and the West Java Food Task Force moved swiftly to trace the chicken egg supply chain in Bandung to curb price fluctuations that have begun to exceed the Reference Sale Price (HAP) at the consumer level.

“Today we, together with the West Java Clean Sweep Task Force on Price, Food Safety and Quality Violations, are tracing chicken eggs because market prices are beginning to exceed the HAP,” said Bapanas Deputy for Food Availability and Stabilisation I Gusti Ketut Astawa in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.

Astawa noted that the tracing was conducted after the West Java Task Force discovered chicken egg prices beginning to fluctuate due to slightly exceeding the HAP at the consumer level. “This was found amongst traders at Kosambi Market in Bandung, West Java during inspections,” he said.

According to the results of the West Java Task Force’s tracing, chicken egg supplies originate from Caringin Central Market and chicken egg distributors around Cikutra Market. The investigation revealed that distributors encountered acknowledged having received prices from producers that had begun to fluctuate over the past three days.

Astawa said the tracing conducted with the Food Task Force yielded positive results. Producers and distributors committed to setting lower chicken egg prices through the upcoming Eid holiday. Producers supplying chicken eggs to Bandung originate from Blitar, East Java.

“Producer prices have been agreed to be reduced, so wholesale chicken egg prices can reach approximately 27,500 rupiah per kilogramme. Thus retail prices can still be around 30,000 rupiah per kilogramme,” Astawa explained.
