All citizens, including the press, certainly know that our
national flag of red and white is a symbol of unity and
integrity. Whether people realize it or not, this state symbol is
currently demonstrating the community's disintegration in Maluku
and Poso as on the one side there is a 'red' group and on the
other a 'white' group. It is not unity and integrity they
demonstrate but fighting, burning and shooting each other.

Why doesn't the press help eliminate references to the red and
the white groups in its coverage? Once more, our red and white
flag is the state symbol of unity and integrity. It's not a
symbol of the nation's disintegration. If the press feels
responsible for national integrity, it should not maintain the
two colors as a symbol of disintegration. The press is expected
to become more introspective and return to its right path.
