National Electric Motorcycle to Launch Today
President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to launch the national electric motorcycle today, Thursday 13 August 2026, at an electric motorcycle factory in Cikarang, West Java. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi declined to confirm the event, asking parties to wait until the day itself. “Tomorrow, okay. I’ll share later,” Prasetyo said at the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
Separately, Chairman of the Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Association (Aismoli) Budi Setiyadi confirmed that President Prabowo Subianto would launch the national electric motorcycle brand, likely at the Alva electric motorcycle factory in Cikarang, West Java. “It’s true, the inauguration of the national electric motorcycle brand,” Budi said when confirmed on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
Alva is known to use assembly facilities in the Delta Silicon Industrial Park, Cikarang, owned by PT Ilectra Motor Group. The factory has a production capacity of up to 100,000 units per year with a takt time of three minutes, meaning one motorcycle is completed every three minutes. The 17,000-square-metre plant claims to implement Industry 4.0 and is divided into three sections, including a production line and assembly area. The facility uses automated guided vehicle (AGV) technology, with robots transporting parts to the assembly line, supported by approximately 180 workers.
Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa previously revealed that President Prabowo would soon announce incentives for 500,000 national electric motorcycles and cars, though the scheme details remain undisclosed. “I think in two or three weeks, the president will launch a stimulus for electric vehicles, including 500,000 motorcycles and cars. 100 per cent PPnBM, VAT is borne by the government, 40 per cent for certain electric vehicles,” Purbaya stated.
President Prabowo had earlier disclosed that Indonesia would soon have a domestically produced electric motorcycle and that he would personally launch it in the near future. Speaking at a TNI mass harvest event in Malang, East Java, in July 2026, he expressed hope that the public, particularly farmers, would utilise the electric motorcycles for their daily activities.
