National education in confusion
National education in confusion
From Media Indonesia
The proposed closure of public administration colleges for budgetary reasons is in my view due to the authorities' inability to manage national education affairs in an effective and efficient manner.
It seems that those appearing with the idea of eliminating public administration colleges are confused and have no concern over the consequences of such a measure in the future.
The study programs at the Public Service Institute (IIP) under the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Public Administration College (STIA) under the Institute of Public Administration are different from the curriculums at state and private universities.
IIP and STIA students are civil servants whose competence in public administration needs to be further enhanced, so that the quality of the bureaucracy can be upgraded at all levels of government agencies.
Worse still, the Ministry of National Education, in its bid to carry out this plan, has reportedly threatened other state institutions as well. It is strange that a public agency, while failing to manage its own affairs, can threaten other agencies over a questionable scheme.
