National Customer Day 2026 Theme: Commemorated on 4 September
Every year on 4 September, National Customer Day (Harpelnas) is observed. This year, National Customer Day 2026 marks more than two decades of celebration.
According to its official website, National Customer Day serves as a momentum to strengthen the relationship between companies and customers through excellent service. It is a national moment to appreciate the role of customers in the journey of Indonesian business.
Since its inception in 2003, this day has become a space for collaboration between companies and customers to achieve more humane and sustainable services. Here are the details regarding National Customer Day 2026.
History of National Customer Day
National Customer Day was introduced by Handi Irawan D. in 2003. Through this day, it is hoped that companies will not only serve customers as an obligation, but rather understand customers as the living soul of the company.
Subsequently, National Customer Day was inaugurated on 4 September 2003 by the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Megawati Soekarnoputri. The inauguration was attended by approximately 200 presidents of various companies and directors of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN).
Customer service is not merely a task, but the core of the company-customer relationship. Because customer expectations are always evolving, no company can claim that customers are entirely satisfied. National Customer Day serves as a reminder for companies to continuously seek the most meaningful value for customers, and to strengthen the climate where “satisfied customers → loyalty → prosperous companies → prosperous nation.”
Theme of Harpelnas 2026
This year, Harpelnas carries the theme #ThinkCustomer. It is not just about fast or friendly service, but about companies truly considering the customer experience from start to finish.
The 2026 Harpelnas theme also serves as an invitation to all companies in Indonesia to make the customer the centre of every business decision. National Customer Day is the appropriate moment to dedicate oneself to boosting the spirit of companies and all frontliners in providing exceptional service to customers.
