JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The government is beginning to outline the national development direction for 2027 through the Government Work Plan (RKP), which forms part of the third year of implementing the 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).

In this draft, there are 56 national priority programmes divided into eight main clusters of the National Priority Work Programme (PKPN).

Several programmes related to the automotive and transportation sectors are included in the priority list. These range from accelerating electric vehicles, mandating plant-based fuels, to plans for developing the national car.

“This PKPN will be implemented through eight main clusters with a total of 60 programmes to strengthen national self-reliance,” said Rachmat during the Central Development Coordination Meeting (Rakorbangpus) for RKP 2027, which was broadcast online on Thursday (7/5/2026).

In the energy and water self-reliance cluster, the government targets the implementation of mandatory B50 biodiesel and E20 bioethanol. Additionally, there is a programme to convert six million petrol-fuelled motorcycles to electric motorcycles.

In the industrial sector, the government is once again including the national car and national motorcycle projects in the agenda for downstreaming and industrialisation. Furthermore, the development of the semiconductor industry and the aerospace industry ecosystem are also focal points.

Meanwhile, in the infrastructure sector, the government is preparing the development of the national railway network and the construction of the giant sea wall. The programme to build three million houses continues, consisting of one million new houses and two million house renovations.
