'National Burden' Remark Leads to Police Report, Analyst Ubedilah Badrun Reported to Police
A controversial statement by political analyst and Jakarta State University academic Ubedilah Badrun has led to serious repercussions. He has been reported to the Metro Jaya Regional Police following his remarks about the “burden on the nation”. The report was filed by Pemuda Garda Nusantara youth coordinator Rangga Kurnia Septian (RKP) and was received by the police under number LP/B/2560/IV/2026/SPKT/Polda Metro Jaya, dated 13 April 2026. The police have confirmed the existence of the report. “Yes, it’s true (the reported party is Ubedilah Badrun), PMJ received the public report on Monday, 13 April 2026. From Mr RKS (the complainant),” stated the Head of Public Relations Division of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, on Tuesday, 14 April 2026. The report relates to Ubedilah’s statement made in a podcast on the YouTube channel Forum Keadilan TV on 6 April 2026. In his statement, he referred to the current government’s leadership duo as a real burden on the Indonesian nation. As a result, Ubedilah has been reported for alleged hate speech via electronic media. The case is now being handled by the Metro Jaya Regional Police for further investigation, including examining the criminal elements in the reported statement. “Regarding the alleged hate speech on electronic media,” he said.
