National Brotherhood Gathering Reaffirms Tolerance and National Unity
Bodies and wing organisations of the Gerindra Party held a National Brotherhood gathering and breaking-of-fast event with the theme “National Unity as the Foundation of National Integrity” at the Secretariat of the Gerindra Central Board (GEKIRA), Central Jakarta, on Friday, 13 March. The event served as a space for togetherness to strengthen tolerance, harmony, and commitment to safeguarding national unity.
The gathering was attended by representatives from various Gerindra wing organisations, including TIDAR, PIRA, the Gerindra Advocacy Institute, Gemashadana, Pepera, Satria, Kesira, PPIR, and Gemira. The presence of these various organisational elements reflected the spirit of togetherness and solidarity in upholding national values.
Nikson Silalahi, Chairman of the Gerindra Central Board, emphasised that the nation’s current challenges stemmed not only from economic and geopolitical issues, but also from the prevalence of disinformation, slander, and hate speech in the public sphere.
“Disinformation, slander, and hate speech remain rampant in society. Our task is to counter all of this through civilised and democratic means,” Nikson stated.
He also stressed that various programmes implemented by the Prabowo Subianto administration, such as the Free Nutritious Meals Programme, Village Cooperatives, Community Schools, and Indonesia’s involvement in various global peace initiatives, represented strategic steps to protect national interests amid an uncertain global situation.
According to Nikson, President Prabowo’s leadership consistently placed national interests above personal, party, or group interests.
“President Prabowo always prioritises national interests above personal, party, and group interests. Therefore, our togetherness today, together with Gerindra’s bodies and wing organisations, represents a concrete manifestation of tolerance in national and state life,” he explained.
In line with Nikson, Yeremias Ndoen, Secretary General of the Gerindra Central Board, affirmed that the Gerindra Party and Government are not opposed to criticism, but rather disinformation and hate speech pose risks to national and state life.
“Therefore, we are present to correct false information and invite the Indonesian nation to unite and trust in the efforts being undertaken by the Prabowo administration,” said Yeremias.
Religious guidance on national matters was delivered by KH Misbahul Munir Cholil. He emphasised that the Indonesian nation requires both prosperity and security, which form the foundation of community life.
“This nation needs food and needs security, and this is what President Prabowo is doing. Therefore, we must support and socialise these programmes to the public so that they are truly understood by our people,” he stated.
He also regarded the togetherness of various organisations at the event as a symbol of harmony reflecting the spirit of Indonesian diversity.
“Our togetherness today is a symbol of harmony and tolerance that reflects Indonesian diversity,” he concluded.
Through this national brotherhood gathering, the bodies and wing organisations of the Gerindra Party hoped that the spirit of national unity would continue to be strengthened as the foundation for maintaining national integrity amid global dynamics.
