National Awakening Day 20 May 2026: Logo, Meaning, and Celebration Twibbons

The commemoration of National Awakening Day is typically celebrated through various means, ranging from ceremonies and social media campaigns to the use of official twibbons and logos. The government has released the official logo for the 118th Harkitnas, along with usage guidelines for the public.

According to a letter from the Minister of Communication and Digital, the theme ‘Protect the Nation’s Buds for State Sovereance’ has been adopted to symbolise the spirit of national revival in facing contemporary and future challenges. The logo for the 118th Harkitnas is designed to represent the collective spirit of all elements of the nation to move forward together in achieving sovereignty, particularly in the field of digital information technology as a foundation for national resilience.

‘The 118th Anniversary Logo of National Awakening reflects the spirit of mutual cooperation (gotong royong) and the optimism of all societal elements in building a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous Indonesia,’ the statement read.

The number 118 serves as the identity of the 118th anniversary, representing a spirit that continues to grow and advance. The colour blue symbolises trust, resilience, and a bright future, while golden yellow represents energy, hope, and prosperity. The logo also carries the message of protecting the ‘Garuda of the Motherland’ to safeguard the nation’s future generations.

An eagle head element integrated into the upper part of the number 8 is inspired by the visual spirit of Indonesia’s national emblem, the Garuda, symbolising strength, firmness, authority, and the nation’s energy. Meanwhile, the leaf shape in the lower part of the number 8 symbolises food security, representing life, growth, sustainability, and prosperity, emphasising the importance of food security as the foundation of a healthy and independent nation.
