Jakarta (ANTARA) - Garda Pemuda NasDem (GPND) Chairman Prananda Surya Paloh has committed to transforming the organisation into a large, inclusive home and a cross-professional creative space for Indonesia’s younger generation. He stated that this spirit is part of the direction for the GPND’s second congress, scheduled for 21–22 July 2026. He believes that young people’s contributions to the nation should not be confined to practical politics, but can also be achieved through real action for society. “Garda Pemuda NasDem must become a place for young people to gather according to their professions and strengths to contribute to the nation,” Prananda said at NasDem Tower, Jakarta, Tuesday. He announced that the second GPND congress will carry the theme “Independent Youth, Sovereign Nation”. The theme, he said, was chosen based on aspirations from various regional administrators who share a common spirit: the desire of the younger generation to continue contributing to the nation in ways that are more adaptive, creative, and relevant to the challenges of the times. He cited examples of such contributions, including entrepreneurs strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem, healthcare workers contributing through service and education, and other professionals presenting innovations according to their competencies. Meanwhile, he views the world of politics as a space for further service that will grow naturally once national awareness and commitment have been formed. “In its fifteen years, I see Garda Pemuda NasDem continuing to demonstrate organisational maturity with positive progress. Going forward, we will further prioritise a more open approach and be closer to young people,” he said. To this end, he stated that the organisation is evaluating its cadre development, the effectiveness of its flagship programmes, and the level of activity of its management from the central to the district/city level, as part of the consolidation towards the Congress.
